Online Casinos Advertising Over Gamblers Anonymous Page

It's not entirely clear what's happening here, but people are saying that when they visit the Gambler's Anonymous website in Australia, they're receiving pop-up ads for online casinos. As you might imagine, this is not considered appropriate. However, I'm confused as to what's actually happening. The folks running the Gambler's Anonymous site say that they have no control over the pop-ups, which wouldn't make sense if it's their site. Also, I visited the site and there don't seem to be any pop-ups at all. About the only thing I can guess is that these pop-ups are being caused by the type of insidious adware that we've been talking about quite frequently today. It would be nice if the report had more details.

Well the answer in australia is obvious... they use http://www.htmlgear.tripod.com/guest/control.guest?u=gamblersanonymous
to host their message board... and tripod uses popups. If they used their own message board problem goes away.

It's not a popup at all...
It's actually google syndication in the message boards, which are offsite. This is the page with the warning, as well as the link to the message boards: http://www.gamblersanonymous.org.au/messageboard.htm
I thought google was going to stop advertising gambling sites?

Through adware placed on a computer without the user's permission, popups from gambling websites can occur when words such as "gambler" or "gamblers" or "gambling" are in the URL. I have had these comments from a few people accessing my website www.gamblingfactsandfictions.com which is a website designed to help people stop gambling, quit gambling or never start gambling. I would never have popup ads on my website and especially for any gambling website, and obviously neither would Gamblers Anonymous.
Fortunately there are effective ways of getting rid of this adware through adware removal programs. Two adware removal programs that are highly recommended and are absolutely free are "Ad-Aware" and "Spybot Search & Destroy" which also removes other bad stuff as well.
