Australian ISPs Protesting DMCA-Style Takedowns

from the don't-wanna-do-it dept

A lot of people have been talking about the recent trade agreement between the US and Australia that would have Australia beef up their intellectual property to match the US's. Part of that, of course, is forcing them to implement their very own version of the DMCA, complete with the controversial notice and takedown procedure. It appears, though, that Australian ISPs aren't so keen on the idea and are asking for much less restrictive terms, so that they aren't forced to take down content that might be perfectly legal.
