Getting Thanked Online Not Quite The Honor Of Being Thanked On Stage
from the Oscar-speeches-vs.-Oscar-HTML dept
One thing the Oscars are famous for are the insanely long (and boring) "thank you" speeches from the various winners of awards. Everyone knows these are boring, but everyone also wants to make sure they don't forget someone they need to kiss up to. So, this year, the producers of the Oscars are actually trying to convince winners to just put their thank you lists online where all of about 15 people might go read through the lists. I'm sure that will win over people who wanted to be thanked: "Oh, yeah, we didn't have time to mention you, but if you search around the Oscars website you can see your name in a tiny font..."
