Jacking Into Music On The Street... And Putting It On The Radio

from the notice-the-differences dept

As radio has become increasingly homogenized with bland plastic pop that the recording industry represents the most "marketable", it appears that many people simply prefer to retreat into their own musical worlds with portable music players. Two radio shows, one in NY and one in London, have decided to get a feel for what people are really listening to on the street, and have taken up the practice of jacking into people's music players as they find them traveling around - and then interviewing them to ask about the music they're listening to. Clearly, both locations feature a very diverse set of people with very diverse musical tastes. The only time they mention a more popular act it's to talk about how horrible it is, and how the show's creators didn't want to play it on the air.
