Internet Reaching Middle Of Nowhere

from the it's-about-time dept

I doubt this surprises anyone, but it appears that more people in rural areas are starting to use the internet. Not really sure if a study was really needed on this, as you'd imagine that number is just going to keep going up until it's pretty high. Some other tidbits of info about those rural users: they're not big fans of shopping or banking online (crazy urban uses), but like that they can look up religious or spiritual info. It's also interesting to see that, in the past three years, a fair amount of broadband access has reached rural communities. 19% of rural internet users connect via a broadband connection - while only 3% did in 2000.
