Recreating Historical Monuments, Virtually
from the take-a-tour dept
I'm sure similar projects are being worked on elsewhere, but it's nice to know that people are creating virtual replicas of historical monuments that let people "go back in time" at the click of a mouse. From the article, it sounds like the team in this case is paying great attention to detail, making sure that the representation is as accurate as possible. While not taking away from the value of actually visiting historical monuments, it would seem that this makes for a nice complement for people who want to compare what may have been with what's there today. Also, it allows people nowhere near these historical sites to check them out.
