Small Businesses Looking For Alternatives To Microsoft

For years, people said that the reason Microsoft had such lock-in was because most companies didn't even bother to find out if there were alternatives. Everyone used Microsoft, so everyone else felt the need to use Microsoft as well. However, a new study suggests that a lot of small and mid-sized firms are sick of paying the Microsoft tax and are worried about becoming too dependent on Microsoft. This doesn't mean they're actively ditching products from Redmond, but it does suggest there's a real opportunity for alternative offerings to get their name noticed in small businesses (who can make a move much faster than large businesses).
