New Boss At Patent And Trademark Office Helped With DMCA

from the reform?--what's-that? dept

theodp writes "On Monday, Jon Dudas became Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Acting Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (phew!). According to the USPTO, Dudas guided the passage of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Dudas replaces outgoing USPTO Director James Rogan, who left to complete work on his autobiography, "Rough Edges," which can be preordered at Amazon.com (good thing he never ordered a 1-Click re-exam!)." We've covered the retirement of Rogan before - but this just supports the theory that Dudas is extremely unlikely to create any real reform at the patent office. In other words, expect plenty more ridiculous patent stories.
