Now It's Steve Jobs Selling Sugared Water

Mixed in with the various announcements about iTunes yesterday was the huge marketing deal between Apple and Pepsi for iTunes. Over at the San Jose Mercury News, they're noting the irony of Steve Jobs signing a deal with Pepsi, since he was the one, twenty years ago, who recruited John Sculley away from Pepsi to take over Apple with the line: "Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water, or do you want a chance to change the world?" The article also points out that Jobs is extraordinarily picky about his diet and unlikely to go anywhere near a Pepsi product. Of course, none of this matters to Jobs, who is a pure marketer - and this is a clear marketing opportunity.
