Can Spam Bill Canned?
from the not-going-very-far dept
Earlier this year it seemed like everyone in Congress felt like they had to introduce their own version of an anti-spam bill, which suggested that, eventually, something was going to make it through into law. However, thanks to nitpicking between the bills and the direct marketing industry's lobbying efforts to confuse the matter, it's now looking like a grand total of none of the bills will get passed this year. Looking at the bills in question, though, this is almost undoubtedly a good thing. None of them would do anything to help solve the spam problem - and some would make it worse.
