Dot Com, The Musical

from the nostalgic-already dept

There have been so many attempts at "reliving the dot com era". I've read about countless books and plays (as well as movies and sitcoms that never went anywhere). However, they just keep coming. Salon.com is reviewing a musical spoof of the dot-com era. While, as the article points out, it's tough to parody an era that brought us the Pets.com sock puppet as a "cultural icon", it sounds like this musical does a pretty good job. They pick up on the little things that made the era as ridiculous as it was - and laugh at them in retrospect. Amusingly, at the beginning, they apparently tell everyone if you have a mobile phone, make sure to turn it on. It's just not a musical about dot coms if mobile phones aren't constantly going off, I guess.
