How Much Do You Rely On Batteries?
from the they're-everywhere dept
Batteries, batteries everywhere. Just look around you right now, and take stock of how many items use some form of battery. From where I'm sitting, I can count at least ten items within reaching distance (laptop, mobile phone, cordless phone, caller ID box, two PDAs, flashlight, calculator, watch, and digital camera). Our lives are increasingly powered by batteries of all sorts and most people don't know anything at all about the batteries they use, other than the fact that they need to continually replace them, and keeping track of all the chargers (for rechargeable batteries) is a bit of a pain. While batteries have gotten better over the years, they've pretty much kept pace with the increased power needs of the devices they run, so it still seems like battery science hasn't improved at all.
