Order A Pizza Online, Get A Free DVD Rental

from the pizza-and-a-movie dept

With the failure of Kozmo, but the success of NetFlix, it looks like other companies are experimenting with variations on the internet-based DVD rental/home delivery deal. An online DVD rental company is signing up local pizza shops to offer a free DVD rental delivered with each pizza ordered online. The DVD rental place actually handles all the work - including setting up the online site for ordering pizza. They deliver the movie with the pizza. Of course, the buyer still needs to return the movie to the pizza shop the next day, which may not be the most convenient thing for customers. Also, I'm wondering what the DVD rental place gets out of it - since they have to manage the website and they're giving the DVDs out for free. Next thing you know, they'll start delivering things on orange scooters...

    Huge profit margins in pizzas.

    by Ron Taylor

The pizza place is probably paying the DVD place for the dvd rental. There is a huge profit margin in piza sales. When I worked for a local Wireless store we had a promotion with Dominos, We paid them $2 for a pizza that we gave to the customer when they signed a contract with us, and Dominos still made a profit off that $2 sale.
