A Virus Ate My Exam Results

Over in West Bengal, the education minister is apparently blaming a virus for students getting the wrong grades on their exams. This sounds like a pretty weak excuse. Someone in the article points out that the machine should have been better protected - but I'm wondering just what kind of virus is designed to specifically change grades? That doesn't sound so much like a virus as a malicious hacking.
