Can Google Save AOL?

from the question,-questions dept

Using Overture helped turn around Yahoo! (to the point where Yahoo! decided to buy them). Now, some analysts are wondering if Google can do the same thing for AOL. The two companies have had a relationship for a while, but some expect it to expand, as AOL tries to get more out of Google's advertising program. The article points out some of the slight differences between Google and Overture - saying Google's average cost-per-click is lower - since they're more targeted on relevancy. Overture is more targeted on making more money for their partners. Of course, over the long run, I would think Google's approach would be more effective, since the more relevant results should generate a higher number of clicks.
