Cell Phone Calls On Jets May Be OK'd By 2006

from the no-peace-and-quiet-anywhere dept

A popular topic around here has been all the talk about communications technology on airplanes. Last month we reported that the FAA was (finally!) doing a study on whether or not mobile phones were dangerous in the air, and now they're saying that, based on the results of the study, they may start allowing people to use mobile phones in the air starting in 2006. Of course, if the FAA approves this, it could mean a very short lifespan for the company AirCell we were just talking about. They claim they've come up with a technology to make mobile phone use safe in the air. If it's already safe, that kind of kills their business model. In the meantime, we can all go back to arguing over how annoying it will be when you're stuck on a cross country flight listening to some bozo next to you revealing all sorts of intimate details about his life.

May be, we will have an option to choose a seat in a "Silent Zone" in a flight!

Remember too, if someone pulls out a phone and start yammering in the "Silent Zone" on a flight, to grab it from them and smash it to little pieces.
