Web Necessitates Alternate Comic
from the dealing-with-the-times dept
The realization that many people now view comics online, forced a comic strip creator to create an alternate version of a recent comic for online audiences. The original version, slated for newspaper deliver had the punch line: "scratch 'n' sniff: smells just like newsprint!" However, realizing that that wouldn't necessarily work for online viewers, he created a second version, reading: "Scratch 'n' sniff: smells just like a computer screen!" He also jokes that the whole thing gets messed up if someone prints it out, so he might as well create a special "printable" version saying "smells like laserprint paper." Of course, this isn't a big deal, but it's interesting to see how media convergence forces changes in content like this.
