Jerry Falwell Claims Rights To 2 Web Addresses

from the continual-bullying dept

Last year, Jerry Falwell made some news for trying to take away two domains, jerryfalwell.com and jerryfallwell.com, that were parody sites about him. WIPO, the World Intellectual Property Organization, ruled against Falwell, saying that the sites were legitimate, non-commercial uses of the name. Falwell then tried again, suing in Federal Court - where the case was thrown out. However, he was now threatening to sue again this time using the fact that he had actually trademarked his name as his main argument. So, based on all of this, the guy who owned the domains has handed them over to Falwell. It sounds like a case of legal bullying, where they kept trying to file lawsuits against this guy until one stuck (or the process of having to defend himself just became too much for him to bother).

    Won't be long.

Won't be long now before the whole web turns into one big joke of a toilet that no longer holds any credibility for even the most hopeful of people.

Then, I guess we'll have to just start talking to each other. (shudder)
