Senate Committee Approves Anti-Spam Measures

A Senate committee has approved one of the fifty or so sets of anti-spam legislation that seem to be introduced in Congress each day. They make a big deal about how this version is "tougher" than previous versions people were talking about, though, it still focuses on "opt-out" rather than "opt-in", such that any business can send you a message as long as they include a method to "opt-out". This, of course, will do little to stop the amount of spam in your inbox. Most spammers will still hide behind spoofed addresses and hijacked servers so they'll never be caught. At the same time, more "legitimate" marketers will feel that they can flood your email box as well until you make the decision to "opt-out" of each and every one of their offerings.
