FAST Buys AltaVista's Enterprise Search Business
from the horse-trading dept
Back in February Overture made some news by buying (in quick succession) both AltaVista and FAST's AllTheWeb search engines. They left FAST with only their own enterprise search division. Now, Overture is realizing that they ended up with AltaVista's enterprise search group which they didn't want to have anything to do with. So, they called up the folks over in FAST's enterprise search group and traded them back AltaVista's enterprise group for some pocket change. Of course, this might have been easier if they'd worked all these deals out in a single move back in February (similar to a "three-way trade" in sports).
