Sonny Bono's Widow Wants Top RIAA Job

First we got the "Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act" which gave entertainment companies virtually perpetual copyrights for their content, and now, his widow is saying she would love to hold the top job at the RIAA, now that Hilary Rosen is leaving. Of course, the two sides haven't spoken at all, but it wouldn't be much of a surprise if the RIAA took one step backwards and signed up someone who isn't interested in looking at how digital music can help the industry. The RIAA has a history of trying to prop-up obsolete laws and business models, so expect the next RIAA-leader to come from that camp. Update: The Associated Press has picked up on this story and points out that Rep. Bono has recently formed a Congressional caucus on copyright issues, and this might present a conflict of interests - as decisions made by the caucus might actually represent her positioning herself for her "future career".
