Court Denies Mailblocks' Injunction Request

Mailblocks' first attempt at enforcing their patents on "challenge-response" anti-spam techniques has hit a roadblock. A judge has denied their injunction request against SpamArrest - a company offering just such a challenge response system (though, they're also known for spamming their own users' contacts). The interesting thing here is that SpamArrest admitted to the judge that they were in violation of the patents, and still didn't have to stop. Instead, they said that they believed the patents were invalid, based on prior-art, and the judge agreed that there were "substantial questions" around whether or not Mailblocks could win a patent infringement suit.
