Churches Lure More With Technology

from the bring-'em-in dept

Some churches in Ohio have been bringing in much larger audiences after installing lots of high tech equipment to spice up the services. Now, the regular service is interspersed with "movie clips, rock music, theatrical lights and giant video screens". The article indicates that some churches are spending upwards of a million dollars to add such "Hollywood" production values to their religious gatherings.

    Do they actually vary the programming for these things, or do they show the same thing over and over? Churches always claim "rapidly expanding membership", though reality is usually the opposite. A pastor's pet peeve is families who come in during holidays to shake hands, then disappear.;
