Despite the conventional music industry wisdom that everyone using file sharing services are evil pirating teenagers, a new study (done by the music industry themselves) has found that there are just as many people over the age of 45 downloading music as there are teenagers. The people who put together the study were surprised. The simple fact, is that the music industry decided long ago that their target market was teens, and those over 40 clearly had no more interest in music - so they've been ignoring them. Now, downloading has given the music industry insight into a mostly untapped market that they'll try to exploit (of course). Isn't it funny that all that "illegal activity" has actually opened up a brand new market for the industry? Of course, they won't look at it that way...
