Feds Going After Open Relays
from the close-'em-up dept
Just a few years late, the FTC and other government officials are trying to put pressure on anyone who runs an open relay to close them in an attempt to cut down on spam. Of course, people have been trying to convince those running open relays for years, without much luck in cutting down spam, so who knows if this will do anything. Of course, there's nothing illegal about running an open relay, so the most the FTC can do is try to "educate" people about the consequences of their actions.
