What Are The Odds Of Legal Online Casinos?

from the taking-bets... dept

PCWorld is comparing two different bills currently working their way through Congress concerning the legal status of online gambling. One bill looks to ban gambling outright, as a protective measure against those who just can't stop. "The home may be considered a castle, but it should never be a casino", claims the bill's sponsor. The other side of the debate says that online gambling is going to continue, no matter what. If the US completely outlaws it, it will continue to move off-shore, where gamblers are more likely to run into scams and get cheated. Thus, they're trying to regulate the industry, and offer legal, but controlled, online gambling. In the end, like so many laws, it's probably going to come down to just how much clout the gambling industry has with Congress.
