A Few Dreamers Building Rockets In Workshops

I'll admit that I haven't been following the whole X Prize, amateurs-in-space stuff. I've noticed, though, in the past month or so, a lot more articles talking about many of the different attempts by "amateurs" to build rockets that will make it to the edge of space. Popular Science has now written an article looking at some of those who hope to win the $10 million X Prize, and jumpstart space tourism the way Lindbergh jumpstarted air travel.

Future high school physics question
A homemade rocket weighing 267 tons is carrying 12 tons of CEOs, VCs, and their ho's when the rocket veers sideways at 624.46 kph at an altitude of 40,000 meters. It suffers sudden explosive decompression above the center of Silicon Valley, roughly 30km in diameter. Assuming that one passenger is sucked out every
second, how many passengers will land within the Valley?
A: 12 (give or take a leg or torso)
