Digital Video Recorders Move Into TV Spotlight

from the it's-about-time dept

For years, folks involved in the digital video recorder business couldn't figure out why they didn't have the ridiculously fast adoption rates that they expected. However, now, people are finally predicting that the video recorders are about to take off. Of course, it might be a bit late for pioneers TiVo and ReplayTV, as the expectation is (once again) that the majority of installations will come directly from cable companies. While TiVo has been courting cable companies to provide their version, it looks like most companies are going with a homebuilt solution.
