Sony TV To Put Net Streams On Prime Time
from the changing-nature-of-computers-and-entertainment dept
The argument has gone back and forth recently over where the "center" of the digital entertainment hub will reside. Generally, the competition is between the computer and the television (or its related set-top box). Now, Sony is apparently experimenting with a new solution that is somewhere in between the two. It's a plasma TV screen that can easily connect to the internet or a home network to access streaming video just as easily (they say, of course) as regular television. Whether or not this particular effort succeeds, it's certainly the direction that things are going in. The entire set of home entertainment and computing systems will need to be easily and seamlessly connected - in a way that the consumer doesn't even need to think about how it's happening.
