Lawmakers Say No To Internet Access Taxes

As lawmakers around the nation are saying that they're going to start requiring e-commerce operations to charge (and pay) sales tax, there are still plenty of other internet-related taxes to deal with. So, a few Senators are now trying to "permanently" ban internet access taxes. Of course, these sorts of "permanent" bans never seem to last more than a couple of years before someone proposes a bill that would take it away. In this case, it seems like the Senators are trying to force the issue, so that the ban on internet access taxes doesn't slip by when internet sales taxes become required. To some extent, it sounds like they've become resigned to the idea that sales tax online is definitely coming, so they're trying to stop additional taxes from being included in the process.
