CIA Venture Capitalists Warns About Government Information Misuse
from the sanity? dept
I once spoke to someone who said that "technically" they were Gilman Louie's boss at the CIA - but, in reality, Louie was not the sort of person to ever recognize any boss. Louie, of course, runs the well-hyped CIA venture capital fund In-Q-Tel, though, his background is in computer software and game. With that in mind, his comments at PC Forum are a little less surprising. Louie talked about the dangers of letting the government have a single unified database of information, pointing out the likelihood that it would be misused. He also points out that simply collecting more information is not likely to help very much, since it just makes finding the right information more difficult. Hopefully people at the CIA and other government agencies will start to understand this.
