Hollywood Needs A Digital Story Line
from the time-to-change-your-business-model dept
Now Business Week has stepped up to tell Hollywood that the smartest thing they can do right now is to understand the nature of digital content and realize that now is the time to adjust their business model. Of course, Hollywood and Jack Valenti have shown very clearly that they have no plans to do so, and instead, will pretend that the current success of DVDs will hold them over perpetually into the future. It's only going to be down the road that they realize this isn't a "choice". The market will move towards what consumers want whether the industry wants to go there or not. If they were smart, they'd start preparing now, and figure out new business models that embrace the technology. Instead, like the music industry, they're going to have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the twenty first century.
