According to this article, we can thank the web for the growing popularity of "extreme ironing", loosely defined as ironing your clothes in the most extreme places possible - while getting your picture taken. In the past, anyone who decided that such a past time was fun would probably be considered in need of some professional help. However, these days, the web allows such people to connect with each other.
