Consumers In CD Settlement May Get Money
from the phew dept
Back in January AP started a stampede when they claimed that no one was signing up to get the refund they were owed from the music labels. Of course, then everyone started signing up. However, there was a catch. If too many people signed up, then the money would just go to charity. It appears that did not happen. 3.5 million people registered claims, meaning that each and every one of them is now owed $12.60 by the music labels. The settlement still needs to be approved by the judge, though, before the labels start sending out checks.
