Navy Pilots And Video Games
from the too-much-like-work dept
Rueters is running a story comparing all those airplane fight simulators to real-life Navy pilots. Of course, it's not a huge surprise to find out that the games don't quite measure up to the real experience, but many of the pilots seem to play the video games as well (though, they quote one who doesn't because it feels too much "like work"). Apparently, the off-the-shelf video games are very similar to some of the simulator programs used in training as they're often based on the same core program. This allows some of the Navy pilots to ace the simulator runs by practicing at home.
