Google Rolls Out Targeted Ads For Content Sites

from the step-1... dept

Well, we've now seen step one in what Google plans to do with their Blogger acquisition. They've quietly rolled out "contextual" targeted ads for content sites (including Blogger sites). Basically, this takes their basic (popular) text ads and puts them on non-search pages - by determing what ads are likely to fit from the content on the page. They (very smartly) designed the system to fit into typical ad-units that most websites use, so that it doesn't require any massive changes. These seem like the perfect types of ads for bloggers who want to add a little extra money making ability to their site.

  • This is so sweet

Man, if they can replace those frickin' banner ads with something that surfers are actually interested in, Google can make a bundle while improving the web at the same time. Sweet..
