France Plans To Ban Spam
from the useless dept
In a symbolic move that will do very little the French National Assembly has voted to ban spam. It still needs approval from the French Senate. Of course, spammers will go right on ignoring this law. From the article, the details are a bit weak - basically saying it's spam if you send a message that hasn't been opted-into. They will give exemptions, though, to properly registered companies. In other words, it sounds nice, but will do next to nothing to prevent spam in any way.
