(Mis)Uses of Technology

(Mis)Uses of Technology

Chipping Away At Workers' Privacy

from the no-trust-any-more dept

We've had stories here before complaining that companies are making a mistake in overly monitoring their employees. There's a clear value to trusting your employees and keeping them happy - rather than not trusting them and keeping them paranoid. Now, Wired News is looking at a new book that talks about the increase in workplace monitoring called The Naked Employee. The interesting thing is that the writer started out wanting to write about corporate espionage between companies - but quickly realized that the technology is much more advanced for spying within companies. I guess that's no surprise, since withtin a company, the management has control over the technology. However, it does show something about how worried some employers are about their own employees' loyalty, rather than what their competitors are doing.
