The Internet, Iraqi Style

from the not-so-easy-to-use dept

A UPI reporter in Iraq reports on the difficulty in getting an internet connection working there. There are internet cafes around Baghdad, apparently, but using them to do anything worthwhile is pretty difficult. Plenty of sites will turn up an "access denied" page, though Google is still allowed through (probably until someone reads this article). Apparently, the majority of people working for the state-owned internet cafe business are involved in figuring out which sites to block.
