Insurance: Home, Auto...And Segway?
from the someone's-gotta-cover-it dept
Last month when we posted an article about one of the first Segway owners, we mentioned that his insurance company refused to cover it. Folks at Segway were quoted in the article saying that other insurance companies did cover the Segway, but they refused to name any. Of course, especially when it comes to the insurance business, if there's something to insure, some company will offer a policy. So, up steps Progressive Insurance to offer Segway insurance policies. Of course, the folks at Segway say there's nothing to insure, since the devices are safe as can be. Other insurance companies say that this is more of a publicity stunt by Progressive. State Farm, for example, says that their basic "recreational vehicle insurance" policies cover Segways as well.
