Hotels Out In The Cold Due To Web Booking
from the well,-duh... dept
And here's a lesson for companies that fail to embrace or don't understand technology. Hotels around the world are struggling as they discover that many people are booking their rooms at a discount online through wholesalers. Instead of offering up their own systems to let people book rooms online, many hotels thought online booking was only useful for filling up empty rooms at the last minute. So, they gave them away to other companies to handle at cheap prices. What they didn't realize is that information travels now, and most people look online before booking hotel rooms - and, thus, they all want the cheapest price. Now the hotels are trying to claw back control over online booking of their rooms, but it's been a struggle.
