Online Kid Porn A Tricky Problem

from the nuclear-bombs-for-swatting-flies dept

Lauren Weinstein's latest column talks about how child porn laws make it so that even someone who accidentally views a single child porn picture becomes an instant criminal. Clearly, the article points out, producers and distributors of child porn deserve to be punished to the fullest extent possible. However, with the ease with which child porn could suddenly, or even accidentally, appear on your computer, it seems a bit harsh to find "first-time offenders" threatened with the same level of punishment.
