MonsterHut Told To Stop Spamming

New York's Supreme Court has ruled that famed spammer, Monsterhut, broke the law and can no longer send spam. This story has been going on for a while, and MonsterHut has already shut down. However, the ruling sets a precedent and hands a useful tool to NY Attorney General, Eliot Spitzer in going after other spammers. The judge ruled, specifically, that MonsterHut had shown no proof of conforming to opt-in procedures. This is a good thing, since so many in the direct marketing world have been pushing to to say that "opt-out" is a good enough barrier. Now there's a court, on record, saying that opt-in should be the standard practice.
