New Bill Pushes Opening Up Spectrum For WiFi
from the more-broadband-for-everyone dept
Senators Allen and Boxer have finally introduced their Jumpstart Broadband Act, which might be slightly mis-named. The bill (scaled back from an earlier version) pushes to make more spectrum available for WiFi-enabled systems, which they think will help do an end-run around the telecom companies that have been slow to introduce broadband solutions. The military has already spoken up about an earlier version of this bill saying they were afraid it would interfere with their equipment, so who knows if this will go anywhere.
