Blog From Your Camera Phone

from the blogging-everywhere dept

Back in October we posted a story about how mobile blogging could be a big thing. Now, a company in the UK has picked up on the idea and is trying to sell carriers on the idea of offering picture blogs to customers who have camera phones. It is the type of application that could catch on and drive the demand for camera phones - especially among young people. Blogging has a viral nature, in that many new bloggers are friends of bloggers. By adding the mobile phone component, it makes it even easier for friends of bloggers to see their friends blogging. While most blogs might still not be much in the way of content rich, as a type of "personal communications portal", they seem to be catching on. It also fits in well with the idea that people with camera phones will start to be the first to report on breaking news. Since there have already been a ton of articles about how bloggers have broken news, add in the element of a camera phone with easy blogging capability, and things start to get interesting. While I'm sure there will be plenty of backlash to all the useless mobile blogs that pop up, the good ones will certainly make up for the rest, and the rest will at least be important to those who created them (which, in the end, is really all that matters).
