VeriSign Resurrects Network Solutions
from the hey,-let's-take-a-crappy-brand-and-bring-it-back dept
I'm not quite sure I understand the reasoning here, but VeriSign is bringing back the Network Solutions name for the registrar part of their business. While first admitting that I hadn't realized VeriSign had ever ditched the name Network Solutions (old habits die hard, as I still go to networksolutions.com to research domain names), now I have to wonder why they're bringing it back. Network Solutions was an almost universally disliked company by anyone who had to go through the process of registering or (worse!) moving a domain name. Bringing back the name only brings back bad associations with people who thought that maybe Verisign had cleaned up NetSol's act.
