Hacker From The 'Hood Tells All
from the different-viewpoints dept
There have been plenty of books about hacking and hackers, certainly, but Wired is now running a review of a slightly different autobiography of a hacker, since this one grew up in a much rougher neighborhood than your typical suburban kid hacker (though, I do wonder how many hackers really are suburban kids...). The book is called Hacker Cracker: A Journey from the Mean Streets of Brooklyn to the Frontiers of Cyberspace Wired seems to play up the "tough upbringing" of the guy a bit too much, which makes me wonder how accurate the story in the book really is - but they seem to like it. The reviews at Amazon suggest, at the very least, it's an inspirational tale.
