The Games Wal-Mart Doesn't Play

Video games have different ratings concerning what age they're appropriate for (like movies), but it seems that Wal-Mart has their own ratings system in determing what games are appropriate for their shelves. As a company they can certainly do whatever they like when it comes to choosing products for their shelves, but some game makers aren't happy that Wal-Mart's huge share of the gaming market means that they simply have to comply in order to receive any shelf space. Some companies even produce two different copies of their games: one that's been sanitized for Wal-Mart shoppers, and one that's for anyone else. I think the cries of censorship are a bit misguided, since Wal-Mart isn't the government, and has no obligation to put any games on their shelves. However, I wonder how many people know that the games they're buying at Wal-Mart might not be the same game they could have picked up at a different retailer?
