Identity Thieves Strike eBay

from the victim-of-its-own-sucess dept

As eBay continues to grow in popularity so do the number of eBay related scams. The latest example is using stolen credit card information to register eBay related web sites that are used to swindle users out of their username and passwords. With stolen usernames and passwords, con artists can set up false auctions. eBay's basic self-policing model only works to a point. And of course users need to be responsible to some degree as well. eBay is successful due to its size, but is there a limit to which it can grow and still be a safe place to conduct person-to-person transactions?
