Why Uncapping Your Modem Is A Federal Crime
from the it-is? dept
Poncho writes "Broadband Reports has posted a great story on the Toledo residents who are being raked over the coals by an area cable company for uncapping their modems.... One of the affected has been royally screwed....People should be upset about this." Indeed. This is bad news. The punishment, in no way, fits the crime at all. It's a bit scary how they "estimated" the damages at $11,000 per user - just high enough to interest the FBI.
